How To Get There The starting point is the capital city of
the Inca empire, Cusco. Here you can combine your trip with a visit to Machu Picchu and
the other Inca ruins of the area. We would be glad to make suggestions for places to
visit. Private transportation, depending how large
the group, can be arranged using four wheel drive cars or buses. We
would be glad to arrange transportation based on your particular
needs. The important thing is you can arrive at
Atalaya by road. From Atalaya you cross the Madre de Dios river and after 2 kilometers
are at the lodge. This is an easier and cheaper option for visiting Manu Biosphere
Reserve with good diversity in an almost insect free environment. Trail System Map Amazonia Lodge prides itself in having a
marvelous trail system that is constantly maintained by the staff. The trail
system covers many different habitats (see the
birdlist) because of the 500 - 1,050 meter
altitude difference.

US Verónica Carrión Our 360 hectares are in the pre-mountain
rain forest. The altitude range of the property is between 500 m to
1050 m with different kinds of habitats (see the bird list). This
range in altitude explains the high diversity of wildlife. The comfortable Amazonia Lodge contains 15
rooms and a total of 30 beds. There are 8 bathrooms with flush
toilets and hot water showers. The Lodge offers a nice
dining area, great food, lighted walkways at night, time for siestas,
flexible schedules, an excellent trail system, and super birding right from
your front porch. The price is U.S. $70/person per night and
this includes meals and lodging free access to the trails is not
included a guide.
"I have visited the Hacienda Amazonia nearly 15 times over almost as many years and always look forward to returning. The owners, Santiago and Nellie Yabar always make you feel welcome, and are always there when you need them. It is a retreat I would recommend to
anyone, including my family. And, getting there is surely part of the
adventure!" -- Steve Hilty |
